It was rubbish, the bathroom has a weird blue light in and our bathroom also had a hole in the sink. We asked them to change the bedsheets and they told us that they did, then when we looked under the pillow it had a bunch of brown makeup type looking things on. The tv also randomly turns on at night.

Budget hotel, less than 5 mins from Paddington. Great for one night. We had a small double, booked through Expedia (better price than booking direct). Room was therefore in a converted townhouse round the corner. You get your own front door key as there is no reception desk in this building. There is no lift and it has steep stairs which was fine for us as we only had small overnight bags, but worth bearing in mind if you have suitcases or struggle with stairs. Room was small but clean, comfy pillows and clean, modern en-suite shower room. We had to call reception when there was a problem with the shower not working but we didn’t have to wait too long before someone came out to fix it. If you are looking for somewhere to sleep for a night near Paddington and on a budget then I would recommend this hotel. A few days later I had a query about the deposit, no money was taken and it was all fine in the end. Unfortunately the person I spoke to was cross that I had phoned when they were busy with guests checking out. Maybe they shouldn’t have answered the phone if they had too much going on, I could have tried again later. It left me feeling terrible that I had inconvenienced them. To be on the safe side I would advise not phoning the hotel at check in or check out times.

We chose Rhodes last minute, a few days before arrival. Excellent location, nice surroundings, quiet and lovely place close to Hyde Park (Kensington Garden). Two tube stations are minutes' walk to the hotel: Paddington and Lancaster Gate. A lot of nice cafes to get breakfast or to have a good dinner (Pizza in Bella Italia was the tastiest ever), and also many food and souvenirs' shops. Rhodes is modest, but it has all the necessary amenities you need at your stay in London. Friendly staff, clean rooms, teapot, AC. Comfortable beds. The rooms are small, but we didn’t spend a lot of time here, so everything was ok. We truly enjoyed at Rhodes, as it is located in a very nice and quiet place at a reasonable price.

Worst hotel , I’ve ever booked and I’ve stayed in a lot. We chose it for its proximity to Paddington Station as we were getting in from Edinburgh on a late train and wouldn’t be able to check in until after 9 pm. When we arrived, the location was somewhat in the seedy side. Had to phone for someone to meet as at reception. On entry it was immediately apparent that this was not a reputable outfit. The ‘lobby’ and I use the term loosely was a filthy and dingy room filled with desks, filing cabinets and pile ion pile of printed paper! Our ‘host’ informed us that we would need to pay an additional £50 holding fee in case we ‘damaged ‘ the room and insisted on needing to record not only my passport details ( as the person who made the booking) but my accompanying teenage daughter! After telling us that because we were late arrivals we could only have a top floor (no lift) room, despite me having reserved and paid for the room in full 4 days prior and emailed to tell them we would be late check ins. Then she led around the block to an entirely different building and up the steepest and narrowest of staircases to a third floor attic room. The decor of the room and building are grubby and dated beyond description . The room was the tiniest I’ve ever been in and the door was so flimsy we felt the need to bolster it with a suitcases to feel safe. Well there want room to unpack a suitcase anyway. To make matters worse, the beds were of the fold out metal ‘camp’ variety and very uncomfortable. When I tried to close the window the lower timber sill separated from the pane leaving us cold and draughty all night. There was no milk and it looked as though the teabags had been there for months, they were broken and spilling everywhere. We were so depressed we moved to another hotel the following day forfeiting our non refundable payment. Even returning my key was a difficult experience as the man in reception carried in talking on the phone for 10 minutes whilst I stood at the ‘desk’ . Do not stay here !

Loved this hotel. It was located near restaurants, Hyde park and 2 train stations in either direction (5-10 minute walk). Our room had air conditioning, a little patio, mini frig and a teapot. Things to know: Room is small and there is not an elevator both as expected. We did lots of research and small rooms, no air conditioning and no elevator can be common. Happy to have the air conditioner for sure!!! The front desk was super helpful with recommendations and making sure we were aware housekeeping, key procedures, and front desk hour.
